These qualities made it possible to successfully run international-level events, starting with the Michelin 12 Hours in March, which opened the season and put the team to the test with its traditionally harsh temperatures. In April, the second round of the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe got underway. June then brought the Brembo Italian Grand Prix 2026, one of the most demanding events of the entire season due to the number of officials required to guarantee circuit safety.

The sporting programme also featured a strong presence of national championships, with extensive participation from the association’s race officials during the July ACI Racing Weekend, which went ahead despite uncertain weather conditions, as well as the second round of the Campionato Italiano Velocità, which concluded in May. Other racing series also featured throughout the calendar, with marshals taking centre stage across both motorsport disciplines: the Mugello Racing Weekend in April for car racing, the Coppa Italia Velocità in June for motorcycle racing, and, again for four-wheel competition, the Ultimate Cup in July.

The figures tell the story of a season of growth, not only in terms of the number and prestige of the events on the calendar, but above all in the participation of track marshals. More than 400 race officials were involved overall during these first five months, accounting for approximately 1,200 assignments between trackside positions and the pit lane throughout the race weekends. A record that fills the association with pride and is also the result of the many new marshals who have joined the Ufficiali di Gara di Firenze family, welcomed and trained through the courses organised at the beginning of each season.

Now it is time to recharge. The summer break in the racing calendar awaits those working behind the scenes, but the roar of cars and motorcycles will continue to accompany the officials throughout August thanks to weekday activities. Competition engines, however, will soon fire up again for the second half of the season, which will benefit from milder temperatures and bring further events capable of delivering the same excitement and intensity experienced during these first months.

After the summer break, the calendar will resume with the second round of the Coppa Italia Velocità, the Porsche Sports Cup Suisse and the Modena Cento Ore. These will be followed by the second Mugello Racing Weekend event, the second ACI Racing Weekend of the season and the Lamera Cup. Attention is already turning, however, to the most eagerly awaited autumn event: the Historic Grand Prix in October. The event will feature more than 200 cars, including 70 Formula 1 vehicles, as well as LMP1 and GT1 machinery, alongside an exclusive moment dedicated to the Ferrari single-seaters that became icons of the Schumacher era.

Participants are required to report at 08:30, with the course starting at 09:00 and concluding at 13:00. The morning will be divided into a theoretical module and a practical session, providing attendees with both the conceptual foundations and the operational tools needed for on-track measurements.

The lectures will be delivered by qualified acoustic technicians, registered in the National Register of Competent Acoustics Technicians (E.N.T.E.C.A.), professionals with proven experience in the field.

This is a highly valuable training opportunity, designed to enhance the skills of Race Officials in noise monitoring and sound level checks, to the benefit of safety and regulatory compliance during circuit events.

The course is reserved exclusively for pre-selected personnel.

To support the packed on-track schedule – which had already kicked off on Thursday with the first races – more than 200 Race Officials were deployed at marshal posts around the circuit, in the pit lane, on the starting grid and in the service areas.

PASSION and SPECTACLE: these are the key words, with the undisputed stars being the bikes, the riders and the teams, surrounded by the wonderful backdrop of spectators who once again this year brought the hills of the Mugello Circuit to life, as well as by the more than 300 “orange angels” (as we are increasingly being called).

The MotoGP World Championship is the moment of greatest recognition, the moment when all our efforts, our commitment, our focus and our professionalism are under the eyes of the world.

And it is with immense pride that we thank the whole team for the great participation, for your punctual and attentive presence, the dynamic management of the track and the prompt interventions whenever needed, for the dedication and enthusiasm you showed from the track preparation phases right through to the end of the event!

The event recorded a record attendance, with as many as 83 aspiring marshals taking part in the training sessions. The course was led by two renowned International Race Directors: Antonio Canu, for Circuit Racing, and Cristiana Riva, for Rally and Hill Climb Racing.

Over the two days of training, participants followed an in-depth program, acquiring the necessary skills to perform the crucial role of Track Marshal. At the end of the course, all candidates showed great interest and preparation, successfully passing the final assessment tests.

The first day saw 74 aspiring track marshals take part, receiving instruction from Race Directors Antonio Canu and Giuseppe Bocconcella. This was their first opportunity to engage with the world of the Italian Motorcycle Federation (FMI).

On the second day, over 90 marshals from various regions of Italy renewed their FMI licenses.

We thank everyone for their participation and the commitment shown over the two days.

This morning, January 25, 2025, a selected and strategically chosen group of our members took part in an informational meeting held in the press room of the Mugello Circuit, focusing on the risks involved in track marshal duties during circuit activities.

Joining Antonio Canu—Permanent Race Director at the Mugello Circuit and President of our association—were Dr. Luigi Felisa and Dr. Michele Taddei of EcoGeo S.r.l., a leading company in the sector that partners with our association to keep safety awareness at the highest levels during our members’ operational activities.

The session addressed the following topics:

• Regulatory framework on applicable safety laws
• Duties and responsibilities of Track Marshals
• Operational safety procedures according to the motorsport regulations
• Interference risks with other track operations (firefighting, vehicle recovery, extrication, etc.)
• PPE: characteristics, usage, maintenance, and management

The attendees showed great interest and engagement with a topic that directly concerns their daily work on track.

We thank them for attending and are confident they will make good use of what they learned today and share their knowledge with those they’ll work alongside this season.
