The second weekend dedicated to the training Race Officials has just ended with the days reserved for tow weels.
In the now usual setting of the Mugello Circuit, the courses for Marshalls were held in collaboration with Moto Club Firenze, FMI and Ufficiali di Gara di Firenze Association.
Saturday 3 February was dedicated to young people who for the first time approach the activity of Marshall for Motorcycles. The day was opened by the greetings of Antonio Canu, Permanent Race Director of the Mugello Circuit and president of our association. Dr. Remo Barbagli, race manager and physician at the Mugello Circuit, then intervened, who made his experience available to illustrate to the participants the importance of the collaboration between Marshall and medical staff, indicating what are the tasks of a Marshall in the event of intervention on a traumatized rider and what are the tasks exclusively for the medical staff. Afterwards, Ing. Begani Filippo, collaborator of the Florence prosecutor’s office, who explained how the work of a course attendant according to the correct regulations and procedures, protects against any legal consequences (civil and criminal), as well as ensuring maximum safety for the drivers on the track. It was then the turn of Giuseppe Bocconcella, Race Director and FMI trainer, who got to the heart of the matter by explaining to those present, with the help of slides and videos, the fundamental points of the Speed, Off-Road and Supermoto regulations (Flags, methods of carrying out motorcycle events, etc.) and the procedures to be followed during the track activity. Particular attention has been paid to safety issues and the importance of collaboration and the creation of a united group in order to carry out our business in the best possible way. The more than 60 young people then filled out a verification test at the end of which our president Antonio Canu explained the function of the association and how to join it. On Sunday 4 February, on the other hand, the young people already in business as Marshall were the protagonists for the renewal of their licenses. The methods of the day were similar to the previous day, obviously with the necessary differences aimed not at providing the basics, but at illustrating the new regulations, suggesting through videos and slides the way to improve one’s work, as well as reviewing the most important notions at the basis of our activity. The intervention as far as the medical part is concerned, was on this day by Dr. Vieri Parrini, Dr. Barbagli’s right-hand man and also in force in the circuit staff.
We thank all those present for their participation and interest with questions and observations that were the basis for a constructive discussion.
